The Cameran Sofa was designed after a request for a modernized version of a traditional tufted sofa. This was an unusually open-ended design directive, which I took full advantage of, immediately developing a range of ideas based on the given inspiration and my own research to present to the team. After narrowing down the direction with a couple more iterative sketches and 3D models, we settled on a final design, and technical documents were sent to North Carolina for sampling and production.
The plush tufted cushion which continues up and over the back and arms gives the upholstery a familiar comfort, referencing a traditional chesterfield or tuxedo sofa, while the low splayed arms and back and ultra wide construction update the look for more modern tastes and interiors. The piece was fast-tracked through production and ultimately expanded into a larger collection, being released with a full two-page spread in the Arhaus catalog.
