This mirror was made with the intention of having the frame and mirror surface interact with one another more as parts of one composition than as frame surrounding glass. Carved wooden elements not only surround, but intersect the mirrored surface in an organic, twisting, Art-Nouveau interpretation of branching tree limbs in an overgrown forest. The view through the mirror is broken up by vine-like tendrils of lead came, which follow and intersect with the lines of the frame. The mirror glass is antique, with a very slightly distorted reflection, and it has a slightly warmer color. The overall effect is as if looking through a fantastic, overgrown forest, rather than a simple reflection of the room the piece is in.
